After storming to promotion from Division One of the Yorkshire Men’s League last season, Keighley Albion are finding life somewhat tougher in the top flight.
They won their opening Premier Division game 22-16 after scoring a last-gasp converted try at King Cross Park.
But they were dismantled the following week, thrashed 52-14 at home to Westgate Common, while their third league game of the season on Saturday also ended in defeat.
Albion were on the road at Stanley Rangers, with the pair the two standout sides in Division One last season.
And the Rangers hit the summit of the Premier Division by beating their old adversaries 32-12 at the weekend.
Centre Adam Gaunt scored a brace for Albion in that opening day win at King Cross, and he was at the double once again on Saturday.
Hooker Jacob Cox was successful with both of his conversion attempts, but it was a poor day for the visitors overall.
It has been a competitive start to the Premier Division campaign though, and the only side still unbeaten are Almondbury Spartans, who have only played once, an 18-12 win over Doncaster Toll Bar.
That means that while Albion sit second-bottom of the table as it stands, they are only two points off Stanley at the summit.
