Cavendish Street is top location
Cavendish Street continues to be the top location for retailers in Keighley outside the Airedale Shopping Centre, according to local property consultant Hayfield Robinson.
Lee Bilbrough, from the company, said: "Occupancy rates in Cavendish Street are extremely good, with very few units standing empty for any length of time.
"Keighley's other secondary streets, including North Street and East Parade, are very much second choice for retailers looking to establish themselves in the town."
He added that as transport links within the Aire Valley improved, industrial occupiers were looking to move away from more traditional centres to rural locations.
"There is no better example than Marrtree Business Park on the fringe of Silsden, near to the Aire Valley trunk road, where in the past 12 months the entire development - consisting of five units extending to approximately 20,000sq ft - has been let to Aire Valley-based companies looking for industrial space in that little bit better' business location," he said.
"We have seen a trend of occupiers who are trying to portray a certain image, moving away from the city and town centres into these more desirable locations and being prepared to pay that little bit more."
High prices have also been seen at the Crossings Business Park, at Cross Hills, and Wilsden Business Park.
