KEIGHLEY'S Airedale Shopping Centre is welcoming shoppers to its "transformed" revamped new public toilets.

The Brunswick Arcade loos, which have been expanded by making use of a neighbouring shop unit, re-opened last month after a 12-week closure programme to enable the £160,000 improvements to take place.

Shopping centre manager Steve Seymour said the number of men's cubicles had been increased from one to five and the number of women's cubicles from three to seven.

There are also two dedicated disabled toilets available for registered disabled users and a parent and children area. "Non-touch" technology has been installed for the toilet flushes and the washing basin taps.

Mr Seymour said: "It's a massive transformation from the old, limited access facilities to these new, modern toilets. It is unrecognisable and It's such a big improvement on what we had before.

"We haven't had a single negative comment. One lady described the toilets as 'a credit to Keighley'.

"This is something we'd been wanting to do for the last three to four years, but we needed investment from the building owners to create the extra space."
