KEIGHLEY MP Kris Hopkins and South Craven MP Julian Smith have welcomed a rise in the number of private sector businesses in Yorkshire.
In the past four years, the figure has increased by six per cent to over 353,000.
UK-wide, at the start of this year, the number of private sector businesses exceeded five million for the first time.
Responding to the data, Mr Hopkins said: “These figures are excellent news for anyone who wants to work hard, achieve success and be rewarded for their efforts.
“We're committed to the task of building a sustainable recovery from which everyone can feel benefit. More new businesses mean more new jobs and more security for families in Keighley and Ilkley.”
Mr Smith said: "More businesses starting-up across Yorkshire is a tribute to the entrepreneurial nature of the region and the individuals taking a risk to begin their business journey.
"The figures are fantastic news. They show that our long-term economic plan is working."
