KEIGHLEY-district farmers could receive recognition in an awards scheme.

Several accolades are up for grabs in the second Northern Farmer Awards.

The initiative is being staged by Keighley News sister title, The Northern Farmer.

Awards will be presented in nine categories, including beef farmer of the year and dairy farmer of the year. There are also categories for the sheep and arable sectors, farm managers, green farmers and family-run farms.

The awards night, at the Great Yorkshire Showground on March 19, will be compered by ITV Tyne Tees presenter Pam Royle.

Mole Valley Country Stores is the event's principal sponsor.

In the inaugural awards, Oakworth dairy farmer Jonathan Sharp was among the finalists for his 'green' credentials.
