ENGINEERS were treated to a special after-hours visit to Keighley fasteners manufacturer Gesipa.

Staff came back in the evening so the 20 members of Keighley Association of Engineers could see machines in action as they toured the factory.

The association, which was formed in 1900, offers its members technical lectures and visits to places of local engineering interest.

It also allows engineers to share knowledge, experiences and opinions with other like-minded individuals through social functions.

Gesipa staff member Stuart Booth showed association members the rivet nut section, the thread forming department and the rivet nut stud assembly machines.

Martin Priestley gave the engineers a tour of the customer demonstration room which showcases cutting-edge Gesipa tooling such as the riveting robot, the Taurus C assembly cell and new equipment such as the PowerBird Pro Gold.

Tim Quinlan gave a talk on application engineering, and the engineers learned about the variety of applications and industries that use Gesipa fasteners.

Association secretary John Pankhurst said members were impressed with the young people who showed them the “very modern manufacturing set up”.
