CHARITIES are losing out on a new market potentially worth nearly £200 million a year, a Keighley businessman has warned.
Tony Kemp, of Keighley-based Giving.Cards, says traditionally fundraisers have reaped the rewards of donations from the sale of just Christmas cards.
But he says thanks to digital print technology, charities can now benefit from year-round sales.
"They could boost donations through the sale of birthday, thank-you, anniversary or indeed any cards," said Mr Kemp.
"Because charities only offer greetings cards at Christmas, they are potentially missing out on three quarters of the market."
Giving.Cards sets up branded greetings cards websites for charities, schools and clubs, which receive at least 20p per card sold.
