A HOUSEBUILDER with developments in the Keighley district is enjoying a boom.

Barratt Homes' Yorkshire West division, which includes the David Wilson Homes brand, says that in the past year it has invested more than £68 million in the region's economy.

The company added it had worked with Yorkshire-based sub-contractors and suppliers from a number of industries at its schemes.

Commercial director Martin Purdy said: "When the housebuilding sector enjoys increased demand, the industry is able to maintain fruitful relationships with both local suppliers and subcontractors as it looks to provide work and support their businesses.

"As a result, the economy in the area sees an undoubted boost and this will continue to grow as we launch further sites this year.

"We strive for our homes to encapsulate the region in which they are built, so what better way to do this than by supporting local suppliers and contractors through building more homes?"

Barratt already has the Vision development at Braithwaite, and new David Wilson schemes include Hewenden Ridge at Cullingworth.
