KEIGHLEY business owners are being urged to ensure their fire safety procedures are up to scratch.
The plea, from West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, follows a case in which a Leeds company was prosecuted for breaching regulations.
Issues identified included a lack of escape route for some workers and an absence of an early-warning system.
Chris Kemp, the brigade's fire protection manager, said: "I would urge all business owners to take their fire safety responsibilities seriously and put measures in
place to safeguard those using their building.
"We will continue to challenge those who fail to comply with the law but we also understand the need to support businesses in achieving compliance.
