A KEIGHLEY apprentice and two colleagues who represented the UK in Brazil have been given a civic reception at City Hall.
Patrick Devanney, 20, and fellow apprentices Chris Renwick and Dominic Trees – who all work for CMB Engineering in Shipley – represented the UK as part of the Manufacturing Team Challenge at the World Skills finals.
The team finished fifth out of more than 50 countries and won medals of excellence.
Their achievement was rewarded with a civic reception in Bradford, hosted by the Lord Mayor of Bradford Councillor Joanne Dodds. The apprentices gave a presentation on their experiences in South America.
Cllr Dodds said: “I was keen to meet these three young lads after I heard about their achievements.
“I was unable to attend an event at CMB Engineering to celebrate their successes in Brazil, so really wanted to invite them to City Hall and honour them in this way.”
In Brazil, the apprentices created a remote control forklift.
General manager at CMB Engineering, Andrew Truelove, said: “We are extremely proud of the boys’ efforts in what is a highly pressurised environment.”
