A CROSS Hills company has been praised by its local MP.

Julian Smith said he was "very impressed" with Airedale Chemical during a visit to the Skipton Road firm.

"Over three generations it has adapted and has set its sights on an international market while keeping true to its local roots," he said.

"It was fantastic to visit such a high-growth manufacturing business in my constituency.

"I was very impressed by the range of products and markets that Airedale Chemical is involved with and I hope its recent rapid growth can continue in the years to come."

The company, which manufactures and distributes chemicals, recently received global recognition for its environmental work.

It has won a best-practice accolade in the Green Apple Awards for its commitment to sending zero waste to landfill.

The award will be presented in a House of Commons ceremony on November 16.

Chris Chadwick, sales director at Airedale Chemical, said: "It was fantastic to tell Mr Smith the story behind the scenes of our business.

“We have been an employer in Keighley and Cross Hills for over 40 years and it is time to show the community that we have a business for the area to be proud of."

A newsletter, Community Connected, is being distributed to residents in the area.
