A KEIGHLEY firm is expanding and creating new jobs.

Henry Charles, which manufactures luxury bedroom furniture, is extending its operations following another successful year's trading.

The Aireworth Road company, established in 2009, has seen rapid growth over the years as demand for its products has soared.

It has opened a branch in Horsforth and is planning to set-up a further outlet in Harrogate.

The firm currently employs five staff, but is looking to recruit two more and possibly a third.

And if potential moves more into wholesale are realised, the figure could rise further.

Managing director, Joseph Waite, said: "It's fantastic to see there is a real desire for luxury bedroom furniture in the area.

"We've had to expand further afield and are now installing our sliding wardrobes as far away as East Yorkshire.

"Starting a business in the middle of the recession was always going to be difficult, particularly with the unique high-quality products we sell, but it's great to have come out of it on top and we have our fantastic customers to thank for that."

He attributes the increased demand for the firm's products to word of mouth.

And he praises the workforce for its dedication.

"We try to always provide a full service – from the initial enquiry to the end product – and we're happy to see the results of that in the number of referrals we get coming through the door," said Mr Waite.

"Recommendations from existing customers have always been the largest provider of new leads for the business and it is the driving force behind our growth."

As well as opening new stores, the Aireworth Mills company is also expanding into other markets.

In addition to further investing in the manufacturing arm of the business, it intends entering the wholesale market with its Yorkshire-made wardrobe doors and handles.

It will be looking to recruit new drivers and fitters.

"We hope to support other businesses across the county by providing a low-cost high-quality alternative to their existing wholesale suppliers," added Mr Waite.

"Saving on costs is important for any new business and we want to help those entering the industry by providing our product at an affordable price to help them grow like we have."
