A STEETON firm has treated one of its customers to a celebration marking her 99th birthday.
Edna Hughes received a special cake, luxury hamper and flowers from Acorn Stairlifts at a party attended by friends and neighbours.
Among those there were Geoff Goodman and Dave Sharkey, members of the Acorn team which provided a stairlift for Miss Hughes a decade ago.
Mr Sharkey, who had joined the company just a few weeks before the installation, said: "It was a real pleasure to go back and see Miss Hughes.
"It's always rewarding to see how your work pays off and the difference it can make to someone's life.
"Miss Hughes is an inspirational lady."
Mr Goodman said: "Celebrating Edna's birthday with her felt really special and the memories of speaking with her all those years ago came flooding back."
Miss Hughes, who lives at Rochdale, said the party had been a "lovely surprise".
She added that the stairlift had helped transform her life.
"It is the best thing I ever bought," she said.
"It's given me so much more independence, allowing me to stay in the home I love."
