FAB Lab Airedale has teamed up with computer giant Intel to promote programming skills and the development of smart technologies.

Intel has funded training for Fab Lab UK staff linked to the new Edison Platform.

And it has donated around 40 of the mini computers and other hardware.

The Fab Lab team – based at Leeds City College Keighley Campus – has now passed on its knowledge to six college staff, who are taking part in a design and build challenge against others from across the UK.

Chris Stott, business operations manager at the lab, said: "This collaboration illustrates the growing interest from large companies in the UK Fab Lab network and the benefits that this can bring to students at the college and in the wider community.

"These partnerships with business also help staff keep abreast of the latest developments in technology."

Fab Lab Airedale is part of a global network of labs, providing access to skills and machinery for digital fabrication.
