A KEIGHLEY town centre salon is celebrating winning recognition of its consistently high standards and levels of service.

The Beauty Rooms, in Low Street, has now been made a Guinot Crown Salon, after its owners and staff attended an awards event staged by this skin care brand in London.

The guest of honour and speaker at the presentations was actor, author and activist Joanna Lumley, who also handed out the awards.

Salons which offer Guinot skin care band products are only given Crown Salon status if they can demonstrate the highest levels of treatment expertise and professionalism.

The Beauty Rooms is run by business partners Claire Scott, from Oxenhope and Jessica Smithson, who is from Skipton.

This salon began as Elizabeth Beauty Specialists in 1965, before adopting its current name in 2002.

Responding to the award for her business, Miss Scott said: "The award recognises things like dedication to the industry, successful sales and how we treat our clients.

"It's a big deal for us. I've been working as a beauty therapist since I was 18 and when you have your own business this is exactly what you strive for. It's great to be rewarded."

The two salon owners attended the presentations on January 24 with their employees Jade Hartley and Kirsty Heugh.
