A TOP Thai boxer has teamed-up with a fruit and veg firm as he undergoes a gruelling training programme.

Luke Turner, who trains at Eastburn Fitness Centre, is receiving weekly vegetable boxes from Class One as he fuels-up for fights.

The British number one will be competing for a World Boxing Council title next month.

"I can't get the most out of my training or have the proper mental focus if my diet isn't right," said Luke, 26, who works as a tattooist when he's not boxing.

"When I was sent a Class One sample box, it was unlike anything I'd ever tasted."

His tough training regime, which includes a four-mile run and several rounds of sparring daily, means he needs to consume several thousand calories a day.

Luke's coach, Robin Shepherd, who set-up the Jai Muay Thai boxing camp at Eastburn 12 years ago, said: "We have a specific weight to reach, so losing fat and stripping the body to lean muscle while maintaining energy is paramount."

Former chef Ben Cluny, who runs Skipton-based Class One with his family, said he was delighted to be helping the boxer.

"It's a privilege to be keeping someone like Luke fighting fit," he added.
