DOZENS of people attended a seminar in Keighley designed to encourage people to take their first steps into the world of business.

The event took place at Central Hall, Alice Street, and was organised by Keighley resident Naveer Towasin.

The main speaker was entrepreneur Mohammed Shabir, who has his own import-export business which trades across three continents.

Mr Towasin said: "It was a good event, and a lot of it was about understanding the importance of trading.

"Mr Shabir has done business in Asia and the Far East and has very valuable experience of how to conduct negotiations there.

"He gave people at the seminar a basic idea of how you go about setting up a business, and how to bring an initial business concept to fruition.

"Most of the people who came along were quite young, the average age was mid 20s.

"This was mostly about helping those who want to start a business for the first time, because a lot of people don't know how to go about it.

"I'd like to stage another business themed event in the winter, and hopefully can attract an even larger audience."

Mr Towasin thanked the Keighley-based Al Hikmah project, which helped him stage the seminar at Central Hall.
