KEIGHLEY has a new town centre portrait photography studio, which was set up last month (August) by a Beechcliffe resident.

Sean Jukes, who is originally from Coventry but moved to Keighley four years ago, has launched his first business venture beneath Cavendish Cameras, in Cavendish Street.

Mr Jukes trained in photography at Henley College, in Coventry, and has previously worked as a freelance photographer. His images have been used in a number of magazines and newspapers.

He explained that although he originally had ambitions to be a photojournalist, and still takes pictures at local events, portrait photography is now his main passion.

"For me it's about being able to tell a story within just one frame," he said.

"I still use medium format film cameras, as well as digital cameras, as personally I feel you can get more detail and realism with film.

"Unlike with digital photography which is instant, fun and easy to share with the world, with film you have to really think before you press the shutter. Everything has to be right."

Mr Jukes put together his new, professional studio from scratch in what was a disused space, and said he is glad to have secured such a central location in Keighley.

He explained that his own portrait photography style is quite cinematic, adding that he aims to offer something different to other local studios.
