AN annual charity golf day staged by a Keighley solicitors holed £2,140.

A cheque has been handed over to Martin House children's hospice, at Boston Spa.

AWB Charlesworth, which co-organised the event with Skipton accountants Pearson & Associates, said it was delighted with the amount raised.

"This was my first year involved in the organising and it was made relatively seamless by so much proactive support from local businesses – which wanted to attend or donate to our raffle," said marketing executive Mel Crewe.

Tribute was paid by Martin House corporate fundraiser, John Haigh.

"We are so pleased to have been supported once again by AWB Charlesworth and Pearson and Associates," he said.

"Their sustained backing over many years makes a real and tangible difference to the lives of children and young people with life-limiting conditions."

Next year's event takes place on June 16. E-mail Melanie.crewe@awbclaw.co.uk for more details.

Also, Charlesworth is maintaining its sponsorship of Bradford and Bingley Rugby Club, known as the Bees.

Andrew Worger, a partner with the firm and a former Bees player, said: "We recognise the importance that organisations such as the Bees have in our local community and are happy to continue with our support."
