A STEETON firm has donated two stairlifts to enable patients of an Edinburgh hospice to be cared for at home.

The donation is part of a partnership between Acorn Stairlifts and Marie Curie, through which the company will deliver and install stairlifts for up to 60 people a year across the UK.

Among those to benefit from the latest handover is the Munro family.

Scott Munro said: "The stairlift has been absolutely fantastic.

"My dad had been spending full days either upstairs or downstairs but now has the freedom of choosing where he wants to be.

"The stairlift simply makes life easier at a difficult time and importantly, means dad can be cared for at home."

Acorn company secretary, Dave Belmont, said the firm was proud to be supporting Marie Curie.

He added: "We are delighted we can make a difference in Edinburgh by giving people the freedom and flexibility to return home.

"We know from our customers how life-changing a stairlift can be."
