A HAWORTH firm which recovered from a devastating fire to achieve outstanding growth has won recognition for its success.

A blaze destroyed the former premises of Airedale Springs Ltd six years ago.

Now the company, which has since relocated to purpose-built premises in the village, is buoyant.

Last year, it increased turnover by 44 per cent to nearly £2 million.

And it has added to a string of awards with an accolade in the prestigious EEF Future Manufacturing Awards.

The firm – which manufactures precision-engineered springs, wire forms and pressings for use across a variety of industries – received the Business Growth Award, in recognition of “dynamic” growth.

Airedale Springs faced tough competition from a number of innovative businesses in the regional awards scheme.

Winners were chosen by a panel of judges including business leaders, industry experts and academics.

The company now goes on to compete for the national title, the winner of which will be announced at an awards gala dinner in London next month.

Sue Brook, commercial director at Airedale Springs, said: “Every business aims to grow, but it requires a defined strategy to achieve this.

“This award is testament to our hard-working team, which has been essential to delivering our growth plans and ensuring we go from strength-to-strength.

“It’s fantastic to get this far in the awards and now we’re all looking forward to the national finals to see how we measure up against the rest of the UK.”

Tribute is paid by Andy Tuscher, regional director of EEF.

He said: “Strategies that deliver productivity, efficiency and innovation are all part of a package that will lead to growth.

“Manufacturers are at the forefront of delivering these strategies and Airedale Springs Ltd is a great example of what can be achieved.”
