A KEIGHLEY company based at Newbridge Industrial Estate has been bought by a firm from Knottingley.

Highspeed Group Ltd, in Pitt Street, has been acquired by Acumen Waste Services Ltd for an undisclosed sum.

Acumen, which is a provider of hazardous waste solutions, has acquired the business and assets of Highspeed including its subsidiary companies, staff, headquarters and waste transfer and treatment facility.

The Keighley business's products and services include waste management, water recycling systems, workshop tools and equipment, fuel, water and waste oil tanks, compost makers, fume extraction equipment as well as protective clothing and workwear.

A spokesman for Acumen explained: "The acquisition of Highspeed will complement our existing national waste management infrastructure and enable the company to continue to serve existing customers as well as developing new products and services.

"Highspeed will be strengthened by the transaction, and the same management team will be on hand to ensure a smooth transition with David Mears and Andrew Vincent being retained as consultants."

The Yorkshire-based team of advisers on the deal, which was completed on March 24, included Leeds law firm Clarion which acted for Acumen with Rachael Stockley and Rachel Dean of the corporate team advising on the acquisition, and Grace Allison providing advice on property aspects.

Highspeed was represented by Southport firm Brown Turn Ross.

Commenting on the deal, Kris Sutton, finance director of Acumen, said: “We’re proud to be able to welcome the Highspeed team and their customers.

"Andrew Vincent, David Mears and the team can be justifiably proud of what they've achieved with the business.”

Mr Mears said: “Andy and I have developed the business over the last 16 years, taking us into new markets.

"We wanted to ensure that any new owners would share our vision for the business and Acumen have demonstrated those shared goals."
