A KEIGHLEY company has invested £1.5 million in new production equipment.
PFF Packaging Group has bought two 500-tonne injection moulding machines, each capable of producing up to 200,000 units a week.
The equipment – installed at the group’s manufacturing site in Washington, Tyne & Wear – is being used to produce tubs and lids for the dairy industry.
PFF said the move would “significantly strengthen” its position in the UK food packaging sector and extend its customer offering.
Managing director, Andy Bairstow, said: “Many of our customers had to import injection-moulded products because they couldn’t find a UK supplier capable of delivering bespoke solutions.
“By developing our own injection moulding offering, customers can now benefit from dealing with one single supplier for all their packaging requirements.”
