A STEETON company has achieved record global sales.
Acorn Stairlifts saw its sales figure for the year ended last September reach £177.2 million.
The result has placed the firm 136th in the annual Sunday Times Grant Thornton Top Track 250 league table – a leap of nearly 50 places on the previous year.
The table ranks Britain’s privately-owned mid-market growth companies according to their latest published sales figures.
Acorn finance director, Joanne Richardson, said: “This is great news in what is our 25th anniversary year.
“There’s a saying that mighty oaks grow from tiny acorns and, thanks to the dedication and hard work of our expanding workforce, that continues to be the story at Acorn Stairlifts.”
The company, which has a 1,307-strong workforce, also ended the year with an £18.9 million operating profit.
In addition to its Steeton base, the firm has factories at Shipley and Haddington, in Scotland.
