KEIGHLEY Laboratories won glowing praise at a prestigious event.

The South Street company – which specialises in the analysis, testing and treatment of metals – was among firms singled out for tribute at the Bradford Chamber of Commerce annual dinner.

The event, at Cedar Court in Bradford, heard that the district’s manufacturing sector was “alive and kicking”.

“Local firms are punching above their weight,” said chamber president, Nick Garthwaite.

“The sector is in a strong position to be able to help drive the city forward.”

He added that next year, Bradford would host its first Manufacturing Week.

Guests at the dinner – which was co-sponsored by the Silsden-based Ecology Building Society – included MPs and the leader of Bradford Council, Councillor Susan Hinchcliffe.

Among the other speakers was Mark Gallagher, a businessman with many years’ experience in Formula 1 motor racing.
