A cracking new family pantomime is promised by Keighley Amateurs as they present Mother Goose for the first time.

The group hopes to lay a golden egg of mirth and magic in a show with many familiar local faces.

Co-producer, Steven Clark, promised all the ingredients that make the annual Keighley Amateurs panto so popular.

He said: “This year’s pantomime is a fast-paced show full of traditional routines, songs, a 13-strong kiddies chorus and a nine-foot goose called Priscilla. What more could a pantomime ask for?”

Steven, the resident Keighley Amateurs dame, plays the title role in the show, which starts at Victoria Hall on Saturday.

He will be joined, as usual, by Tim Steere as the sidekick comic and bungling idiot, Charlie Goose.

Tim returns to the Amateurs fresh from his role in the Keighley Playhouse seasonal production, Christmas Belles.

Romance is provided by Crispin Goodfellow and Jill Goose, played by usual Amateurs principal boy and girl Fiona Spencer and Brogan Hollindrake.

Brogan played the lead role of Swallow in the Amateurs’ recent production of musical Whistle Down The Wind opposite Mark Allan.

Mark is also in Mother Goose, generating a few boos as Duke Discord, playing opposite Katharine Major as Fairy Rainbow.

Providing extra laughs will be Keighley Playhouse regular Phil Smith and Sutton Amateurs veteran Philip Smith, as Bertie Bothersome and Leonard Lickerish.

Mother Goose is again produced by Steven Clark and Peter Whitley, choreographed by Judith Chapman and musically directed by John Sandland.

Mother Goose runs from January 25 to February 1, with matinees on the Saturdays and the Sunday. All tickets are £7 for the Monday show.

There will be a raffle each evening to win tickets to Disney’s The Lion King at Bradford Alhambra plus a month’s supply of Yorkshire Tea.

Tickets are available from the website keighleypanto.com, by visiting the Copy Shop in High Street, Keighley, or by calling 08450 252550.
