Horses were a familiar means of transport until at least the mid-20th century.

This load belonging to hay and straw dealers H M Hayward Ltd, of Park Street in Keighley, was photographed in 1935 in East Parade after being collected from the railway goods yard.

Horse-related trades included hay and straw merchant James Yates in Chapel Lane, and saddlers and harness makers Sydney Hargreaves in Park Street and Fred H Mitchell in Low Street.
