THESE Exchange Vaults in Keighley's High Street appear on the right-hand side of the other two photographs.
In 1884 proprietor John Gill paid for a generous half-page advertisement in a local trade directory, where, in addition to the customary "wines, spirits, and ales, of superior quality", he listed some of the alcoholic treats of the period: Martell's and other brandies, Pure Hollands Gin and Nicholson's London Gin, fine old Irish and Scotch whiskies, Jamaica rum, Bass's bottled ales and Guinness's Dublin stout, plus "cigars of the finest brands".
Every Saturday evening the Exchange Vaults held a "free and easy".
The photograph has been supplied by Mr Kevin Seaton, of Shann Lane, Keighley.
