THIS is a key moment from Shakespeare's Twelfth Night presented by the Keighley Boys' Grammar School Dramatic Society in March, 1945.
On the right, W Reid Marchbank, as the self-righteous Malvolio, lectures the play's more dissolute humorous characters taken by - from left - Harry Poynton (Fabian), Paul B Greenwood (clown), Maxine Brayshaw (Maria), Kenneth Carr (Sir Andrew Aguecheek), and Dennis Pegg (Sir Toby Belch).
Maxine Brayshaw was one of three pupils lent by the Girls' Grammar School to help out with the female roles.
This production, a break from a wartime run of miscellaneous concerts, was considered to be of an "unusually high standard", with proceeds going towards the school athletic sports fund and the provision of gifts for the 561 "old boys" then serving in the forces.
