THESE members of the Keighley Inner Wheel Club presented six wheelchairs to the Keighley St John Ambulance Brigade during the 1947-1948 presidency of Mrs JH Greenwood, seen here wearing her chain of office fifth from the right on the front row standing.
Photographer William Speight persuaded five of the ladies and a St John officer to try out the donation! In 1949 they were to present a rocking stretcher.
The Inner Wheel Club comprises the wives of Rotarians. These ladies were demonstrating their ability to further the aims of their husbands’ Rotary motto: “Service above self”.
