A Bracken Bank-bound double-decker turns off Station Bridge into Cavendish Street
NOT being qualified to date buses by their changing technical features, I shall simply hazard a guess that this Bracken Bank-bound double-decker was turning off Station Bridge into Cavendish Street on a typically wet day in the 1950s.
Three men on the left are wearing the long belted raincoats of the period, while women on the right are in headscarves.
The premises on the right included a historic murder site. On the Friday night before Keighley Parish Feast in 1930, in an office above the shops, a young man desperate for holiday cash fatally beat money lender Oliver Preston about the head with a metal bar.
