WORKING life sometimes extended into sport and leisure.
These are the Prince-Smith and Stells bowlers who won the Roy Marriner Shield for Crown Green bowling in 1948. They were photographed in the grounds of Prince-Smith and Stells’ social club at Strong Close.
Mr Lloyd George Wallis, who sits on the far right, wrote all their names on the back of the original print.

Prince-Smith and Stells Ltd was taken over by Platt International Ltd in 1970, in the first of a series of amalgamations which would spell its eventual demise.
