LUND Park in its Edwardian heyday provided a favourite postcard theme.
It was the gift of James Lund, of Malsis Hall at Glusburn, hence the naming of Malsis Road along one side.
On July 21, 1891, Mrs Lund formally and “graciously” opened the gate while “the assembly signalised the event by giving three lusty cheers, and Marriner’s Band commenced to play the National Anthem”.
The fountain in the lake, seen here on the right, was turned on “amid the hearty cheers of the people”.
Another Lund Park feature was a bandstand presented by the Keighley Friendly Societies’ Gala Committee.
An elaborate drinking fountain would be added in 1892.
