THIS was the cast of Jack And The Beanstalk in 1953, the third in a series of legendary annual pantomimes performed in the Ingrow Parish Church Schoolroom, written and produced by Keith Marsden and Geoffrey Rundle, who also took the leading comedy roles.

“As usual, comedy is the keynote of the production,” enthused the Keighley News at the time, “and it is backed up by tuneful songs, clever ballet and tap dancing and a chorus, and kiddies’ chorus, brimming over with vitality.”

Geoffrey Rundle played Dame Trot, with Keith Marsden as her son, Jimmy.

Other cast members were to become prominent in local amateur dramatic circles: Stanley Peckover was the Squire, Derek Lund and William Bebb the giant’s henchmen, and Margaret Shackleton and Elsie Greenwell principal boy and girl. Fred Kidd was the giant.
