THIS rare view from the 1870s shows the approach to Keighley from the direction of Pitt Street.
The railway station itself is hidden in the murky background, still in its original location on the farther side of Bradford Road.
The Midland Railway is swinging out on the right, past a conglomeration of industrial premises.
They include the Midland Tool Works, Eagle Works, Alpha Works and Park Works.
On the left is the Worth Valley Railway, opened in 1867.
It is running alongside what was then called Low Mill Road, with Low Mill prominent beside it.
The River Worth flows behind the wall in the foreground.
According to an early timetable, the journey from Keighley to Shipley took 19 minutes.
Given a prompt change of trains there, you could reach Bradford in 33 minutes and Leeds in an hour and a quarter.
From Keighley to Skipton took 27 minutes.
