Help patients cope with hair loss
People in and around Keighley have been asked to volunteer to help people facing cancer-related hair loss.
Breast Cancer Care, a national provider of information and support to people affected by this form of cancer, is launching a service called HeadStrong'.
This offers cancer patients the chance to learn how to tie headscarves and use hats and hairpieces to reduce the impact of hair loss.
Clients are offered private and confidential hour-long appointments, and can attend as many times as they want.
All training and support will be provided by Breast Cancer Care, while the service will be managed by Bradford Cancer Support.
Training for volunteers begins this summer and the service opens in October.
Breast Cancer Care practical support worker, Georgina Lyons, said: "By being a HeadStrong volunteer people can make a real difference to others' lives - it's a service that gives immediate results, and so is very rewarding for both the client and the volunteer. It's a completely free service, and we're keen to get people on board who can help us to deliver this exciting project."
To find out more about getting involved, or to obtain an application form, contact Leanne or Georgina on 0845 0771893 or email nrc@breastcancer
