Keighley Show is gearing up to be another classic event.

The September 6 extravaganza will feature a full range of classes.

Cattle, sheep and goats - absent last year following a national foot and mouth scare - will be back, although movement restrictions due to blue tongue disease will affect entries from North Yorkshire.

There will also be horses, show jumping, ferrets, the flower academy, guinea pigs, handicrafts and domestic, honey and wax, horticulture, pigeons, poultry and bantams, rabbits and tractors.

A children's pet show and dog show are being held again - both can be entered on the day.

The usual array of stalls and trade stands will be present and there will be a farmers' market.

Entertainment will include a falcon display and the City of Bradford Pipe Band.

Free parking will be available and a bus service will operate between the town centre and the showground, at Marley's King George V Playing Fields.

Show tickets, which will be available from Keighley Information Centre, are being pegged at last year's prices - £5 for adults, £3 for the over-60s and youngsters aged 5-15, and £4 for Passport to Leisure holders. Adult admission on the day will cost £6.

The show president this year is Keighley MP Ann Cryer, a long-time supporter of the event, and guest speaker at the official luncheon will be former Government director of communications and strategy Alastair Campbell.

The public is invited to take out membership of the show society. Various levels are available. Benefits include access to private bar facilities and seating at the event and the chance to buy tickets for the luncheon.
