The price of being free...

The film ‘Lincoln’ has been one of the big box-office successes of recent months, portraying as it does the life of a man who was indeed one of the great men of the 19th century, especially with regard to his support for the abolition of the slave trade.

We all stand before God

3:06pm Thursday 18th April 2013

No political figure in my lifetime has polarised opinion more than Margaret Thatcher. Her devotees exalt her as the saviour of our nation, and her opponents see her as number one enemy of the people. Love her or hate her, it seems everyone has an opinion of her, and some have very strong opinions.

Living for Him in a humble way

3:48pm Thursday 11th April 2013

Who deserves our respect?

2:43pm Thursday 28th March 2013

Respect is a difficult word to expound upon. Do I show respect to those who demand respect simply because of an inherited position in society? Do I show respect to those who publicly show piety, in private however, demonstrate scorn and contempt to others? Do I show respect to those I’m aware have committed sins against others? Do I show respect to people who propagate lies against others, then get angry at honest and truthful replies?

Co-operation is such a positive development

2:33pm Thursday 21st March 2013

One positive development among Keighley churches over the last few years has been increasing co-operation in various forms of outreach, including Christian Links in Keighley Schools, ‘On the Move’ burger mission on Church Green during spring half-term, and ‘Lilies’ drop-in centre for young mums on Cavendish Street (featured on ‘Songs of Praise’ last week).

Christian Viewpoint
