Christian Viewpoint by Mike Hellawell of Keighley Churches Together

LAST SEPTEMBER the picture of the young Syrian boy washed ashore on a Turkish beach shocked many people, and it was said it would change the world.

I think it did for a short time.

I was thinking of this tragedy as we near the Christian celebration of Easter.

A man died 2,000 years ago, who really did change the world. Why, you may ask? Well, he came back to life and appeared to many of his followers.

He is still about. How do I know? Well, he told us.

He said: “Whenever two or three are gathered in my name there I am in the midst of them.?

“Where else?” he asked. He could be visited in prisons, he could be met in hospitals and places where people are sick, and he would be about when people were feeding the hungry.

Then he capped it all by saying he would be with was always even to the end of the world. Amazing.

We are quite capable of breaking a promise, but God never goes back on his word.

Happy Easter.
