WHAT IS the first thing we think of when we look in the mirror?

Or when we meet our family members, friends, acquaintances and neighbours? Or people in general?

I was challenged recently to see people the way God sees them –through eyes of love.

There are many examples in the Bible of people encountering God and being overwhelmed by his love.

God loves people. God loves you. He even calls us objects of his mercy, his Beloved and dear children. He sees something of value in every one of us which most of the time we can't see ourselves.

He sees TREASURE and calls us His treasured possession. He even speaks to that treasure inside us.

How often do we see the treasure in others? How often do we encourage, build up and speak to the treasure in each other? Or is it easier to focus on the faults, mistakes, negatives and flaws.

Jesus knew that whatever He spoke to would rise up in people.

People always seem to speak to the flaws, for example: “if you put this right and change that, then we will accept you."

God is not remotely like that. He speaks to the treasure in a person and releases it from the captivity of the flesh. He extracts the precious from the worthless.

When we speak to the treasure in people it moves to the surface of their lives from the hidden to the obvious. When people see their own worth they themselves get rid of rubbish.

Don't let your opinion of worthiness obscure that which is precious about a person.

Speak to the treasure!
