KEIGHLEY CAP (Christians Against Poverty) Debt Centre, based at Keighley Shared Church but working with Keighley Churches Together, opened on May 2 to meet the overwhelming need for debt advice across the town and to show the love of God in action.

Four teams of volunteers visit clients trapped in poverty as CAP works to bring people out of debt, commencing with a series of three or more visits.

Subsequently, the centre continues to support and befriend clients through visits by a member of the Blessings Team to deal with emotional and mental health issues.

The good news of God’s love is expressed on every visit through personal testimony, prayer and invitation to church gatherings.

The Social Team also meets clients socially at specially organised events to which all clients are invited.

Prayer is an essential contribution to the work of CAP, and a Prayer Team meets monthly to pray for all clients and the staff, and ongoing prayer is made for clients and for each visit.

The centre has got off to a busy start. One client has completed the three visits and two further clients will complete them before the end of June.

Currently the centre has acquired 15 clients with first visits booked in up to the end of August.

I have first visit appointments each Thursday morning and second and third visits booked in each week with other clients on days to suit them.
