Andrea Foster Keighley Shared Church writes
Here we are at the beginning of another year, another decade. It’s a time for looking back and looking forward, for making plans, for examining our lives and for making resolutions, for moving on.
We are all living our own stories, making our own personal journeys where will we go next? Often this is a time to plan holidays, shall we visit new destinations or return to old favourites? We may be making decisions about finances or grappling with problems that can no longer be avoided. Or perhaps it’s the smaller decisions that we are making, such as more recycling, or driving the car less, which trouble us.
We can listen to the advice of experts but often they disagree and in the end we have to make our own decisions. Christians believe that there is help available, that there is someone who can be relied on, that Jesus Christ is the one who always walks with us, even when we don’t realise it.
The early Celtic Christians often took part in pilgrimages. The journey and the travelling, the sharing and everyday experiences were just as important as reaching their destination. So perhaps there is a message for us as we move through another year.
Let’s help each other as we travel along and let’s put trust in our loving God who seeks the well-being of every person in every place.
