WITH its name spelt our boldly down its length, the Co-op Dairy chimney used to be a landmark in Hanover Street. It was demolished during construction of the Airedale Centre in the 1960s.
The Keighley Industrial Co-operative Society – latterly by amalgamation the Keighley and Skipton District Co-operative Society – was associated with the area now largely submerged by the Airedale Centre. Its central stores were in Brunswick Street, but several departments were scattered round neighbouring addresses.
It had a coal depot in the station yard, while the Co-operative Wholesale Society produced bedsteads and mangles in Goulbourne Street.
