KEIGHLEY Parish Church rises above the shops of Church Green some 60 years ago, when the name doubled as Church Street and before there was an actual green.
Ophthalmic optician Henry Saunders adjoins the entrance to Airways Taxis in the King’s Arms Yard.
Beyond, a small group – with the man typically carrying his raincoat over his arm – examines the curiosity-shop window of a Gold Depot.
The King’s Arms, in the right background, had once been a coaching inn, hence the yard entrance on the far left.
Demolished in 1966, it had also served as headquarters of the Keighley Rugby League Football Club in its earlier years.
