THIS frame from a fragment of early cinematograph film shows bystanders waiting for some unidentified street event in Keighley.
They provide an unselfconscious cross-section of Edwardians.
The well-dressed lady in the large hat towards the right contrasts with the group of women on the left, three of whom are clutching their voluminous shawls under their chins.
At least two boys near the bicycle are wearing clogs.
The cloth-capped man on the right of the lady in the hat has just lit a cigarette, whilst the second and third women from the left are holding their babies.
The elegant little boy on the left of the man in the straw hat contrasts with the grubby-looking smaller child dimly visible next to the woman in black at the left.
