FAMILY albums are awash with impeccable school photographs showing pupils tidied up and posed.

But in around 1965 Chris Bryant, now of Parkway at Steeton, snapped his classmates at Parkwood School before they “went their separate ways to either Highfield or Eastwood”.

He recorded a good image of a wall and windows but managed to cut off everybody’s feet and half of the bottom row, yet he captured a spontaneous impression of natural children.

The boy at the far right has kept his hood up and the third from the right has his hands in his pocket. Two are rather uncomfortably crouched.

Mr Bryant admits to a “very hazy memory”, but hazards some of the names as “Mr Hood, the head, and Mr Bradley, class teacher, then – in no particular order – Brian Woollard, Colin Moorby, John Feather, Alan Tyler, Kim Daynes, Nigel Pearson, Stefan Ploticki, Paul Rozga, Marilyn Hawksworth, Connie Meyers, Valerie Dyson, Jeanette Haigh, Judith Wilkinson, Julie Throupe and Eileen Spencer.”

“I often wonder what became of us all,” he adds.
