FIVE bonny lasses recline on a heathery hillside in an old mystery photograph supplied by Mrs Maureen Jackson, of Fell Lane, Keighley, though her identification of the girl on the right as Miss Mary Florence Unwin may provide a possible clue.

Miss Unwin had been born in 1900, which dates the photograph to about the Great War period.

She was connected with St Anne’s Catholic Church in Keighley, which encouraged a variety of social activities.

So have these girls been putting on a dancing display at some outdoor fundraising event?

They are dressed alike, and appealingly have all stuck a sprig of heather in their waistbands.
