HAWORTH residents have slammed the amount of rubbish overflowing from bins during the 1940s weekend.
But while lessons could be learned for next year –- more bins perhaps -- organisers can regard the piles of discarded boxes and bottles as evidence of the terrific job they did attracting visitors.
The hard-working volunteers were too busy during the actual event to clear all the litter, but afterwards they soon returned the village to its ‘pre-war’ state.
With so many thousands of people enjoying the weekend, and so much cash coming into the local economy, surely the detractors could have displayed a little patience rather than reaching immediately for a camera?
Or instead, grabbed a bin bag and cleared some of the rubbish themselves?
