IT'S welcome news that work is progressing well on Keighley's new £23 million school.

The-state-of-the-art replacement Beckfoot Oakbank building is well on schedule to open at Easter, 2018.

Through its planning stages, the ambitious scheme had to endure a somewhat bumpy ride.

The venture did have its opponents and various obstacles needed to be overcome.

But the fact is, the current structure is not fit for modern purpose.

Students, staff and indeed the community deserve better facilities.

The new building will move the school into the 21st century with provision to be envied.

Everyone at Beckfoot Oakbank, with academy status now also acquired, has reason to look forward with optimism and confidence.
