MANY people still remember with horror the day of the Bradford City fire.
Nearly 32 years may have elapsed since that fateful event, but the tragedy lives on – and will continue to do so – in the minds of great numbers across the district, who were either directly or indirectly affected.
News this week that any new investigation into claims of potential police misconduct during the disaster or in the subsequent probe has been ruled out, will come as a huge relief.
Unlike Hillsborough in 1989, there was never any suggestion of police negligence or wrongdoing at Valley Parade.
To have had an inquiry would have served no purpose.
And more significantly, it would have needlessly churned-up horrific memories for those there and victims' families.
